Surah 86 - The Nightcommer (At-Tariq)

1

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ

By the heaven and the nightly star

— Transliteration

2

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ

And what will make you realize what the nightly star is?

— Transliteration

3

ٱلنَّجْمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ

It is the star of piercing brightness

— Transliteration

4

إِن كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ لَّمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌۭ

There is no soul without a vigilant angel recording everything

— Transliteration

5

فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ

Let people then consider what they were created from

— Transliteration

6

خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٍۢ دَافِقٍۢ

They were created from a spurting fluid،

— Transliteration

7

يَخْرُجُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ ٱلصُّلْبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ

stemming from between the backbone and the ribcage

— Transliteration

8

إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٌۭ

Surely He is fully capable of bringing them back to life

— Transliteration

9

يَوْمَ تُبْلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ

on the Day all secrets will be disclosed

— Transliteration

10

فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٍۢ وَلَا نَاصِرٍۢ

Then one will have neither power nor any helper

— Transliteration

11

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجْعِ

By the sky with its recurring cycles،

— Transliteration

12

وَٱلْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدْعِ

and the earth with its sprouting plants

— Transliteration

13

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلٌۭ فَصْلٌۭ

Surely this Quran is a decisive word،

— Transliteration

14

وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلْهَزْلِ

and is not to be taken lightly

— Transliteration

15

إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًۭا

They are certainly devising evil plans،

— Transliteration

16

وَأَكِيدُ كَيْدًۭا

but I too am planning

— Transliteration

17

فَمَهِّلِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًۢا

So bear with the disbelievers O Prophet Let them be for just a little while

— Transliteration
