Surah 69 - The Reality (Al-Haqqah)

ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
The Inevitable Hour
— Transliteration
2
مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
What is the Inevitable Hour?
— Transliteration
3
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is?
— Transliteration
4
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ
Both Thamûd and \'Ȃd denied the Striking Disaster
— Transliteration
5
فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ
As for Thamûd، they were destroyed by an overwhelming blast
— Transliteration
6
وَأَمَّا عَادٌۭ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍۢ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍۢ
And as for \'Ȃd، they were destroyed by a furious، bitter wind
— Transliteration
7
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍۢ وَثَمَٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًۭا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍۢ
which Allah unleashed on them non-stop for seven nights and eight days، so that you would have seen its people lying dead like trunks of uprooted palm trees
— Transliteration
8
فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍۢ
Do you see any of them left alive?
— Transliteration
9
وَجَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَٰتُ بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ
Also، Pharaoh and those before him، and the people of the overturned cities of Lot indulged in sin،
— Transliteration
10
فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةًۭ رَّابِيَةً
each disobeying their Lord\'s messenger، so He seized them with a crushing grip
— Transliteration
11
إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِ
Indeed، when the floodwater had overflowed، We carried you in the floating Ark with Noah،
— Transliteration
12
لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةًۭ وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌۭ وَٰعِيَةٌۭ
so that We may make this a reminder to you، and that attentive ears may grasp it
— Transliteration
13
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌۭ وَٰحِدَةٌۭ
At last، when the Trumpet will be blown with one blast،
— Transliteration
14
وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ
and the earth and mountains will be lifted up and crushed with one blow،
— Transliteration
15
فَيَوْمَئِذٍۢ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
on that Day the Inevitable Event will have come to pass
— Transliteration
16
وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ وَاهِيَةٌۭ
The sky will then be so torn that it will be frail،
— Transliteration
17
وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ ثَمَٰنِيَةٌۭ
with the angels on its sides On that Day eight mighty angels will bear the Throne of your Lord above them
— Transliteration
18
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌۭ
You will then be presented before Him for judgment، and none of your secrets will stay hidden
— Transliteration
19
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَٰبِيَهْ
As for those given their records in their right hand، they will cry happily، "Here everyone Read my record
— Transliteration
20
إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ
I surely knew I would face my reckoning"
— Transliteration
21
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍۢ رَّاضِيَةٍۢ
They will be in a life of bliss،
— Transliteration
22
فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍۢ
in an elevated Garden،
— Transliteration
23
قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌۭ
whose fruit will hang within reach
— Transliteration
24
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ
They will be told، "Eat and drink joyfully for what you did in the days gone by"
— Transliteration
25
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَٰبِيَهْ
And as for those given their record in their left hand، they will cry bitterly، "I wish I had not been given my record،
— Transliteration
26
وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ
nor known anything of my reckoning
— Transliteration
27
يَٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ
I wish death was the end
— Transliteration
28
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ۜ
My wealth has not benefited me
— Transliteration
29
هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَٰنِيَهْ
My authority has been stripped from me"
— Transliteration
30
خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ
It will be said، "Seize and shackle them،
— Transliteration
31
ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ
then burn them in Hell،
— Transliteration
32
ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍۢ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًۭا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ
then tie them up with chains seventy arms long
— Transliteration
33
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
For they never had faith in Allah، the Greatest،
— Transliteration
34
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ
nor encouraged the feeding of the poor
— Transliteration
35
فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌۭ
So this Day they will have no close friend here،
— Transliteration
36
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍۢ
nor any food except oozing pus،
— Transliteration
37
لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَٰطِـُٔونَ
which none will eat except the evildoers"
— Transliteration
38
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ
Now، I do swear by whatever you see،
— Transliteration
39
وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
and whatever you cannot see
— Transliteration
40
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍۢ كَرِيمٍۢ
Indeed، this Quran is the recitation of a noble Messenger
— Transliteration
41
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍۢ ۚ قَلِيلًۭا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ
It is not the prose of a poet as you claim، yet you hardly have any faith
— Transliteration
42
وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍۢ ۚ قَلِيلًۭا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ
Nor is it the mumbling of a fortune-teller، yet you are hardly mindful
— Transliteration
43
تَنزِيلٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
It is a revelation from the Lord of all worlds
— Transliteration
44
وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِ
Had the Messenger made up something in Our Name،
— Transliteration
45
لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِ
We would have certainly seized him by his right hand،
— Transliteration
46
ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ
then severed his aorta،
— Transliteration
47
فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَٰجِزِينَ
and none of you could have shielded him from Us
— Transliteration
48
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌۭ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
Indeed، this Quran is a reminder to those mindful of Allah
— Transliteration
49
وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ
And We certainly know that some of you will persist in denial،
— Transliteration
50
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
and it will surely be a source of regret for the disbelievers
— Transliteration
51
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
And indeed، this Quran is the absolute truth
— Transliteration
52
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
So glorify the Name of your Lord، the Greatest
— Transliteration
