Surah 37 - Those who set the Ranks (As-Saffat)

1
وَٱلصَّٰٓفَّٰتِ صَفًّۭا
By those angels lined up in ranks،
— Transliteration
2
فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْرًۭا
and those who diligently drive the clouds،
— Transliteration
3
فَٱلتَّٰلِيَٰتِ ذِكْرًا
and those who recite the Reminder
— Transliteration
4
إِنَّ إِلَٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٌۭ
Surely your God is One
— Transliteration
5
رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَٰرِقِ
He is the Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything in between، and the Lord of all points of sunrise
— Transliteration
6
إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ
Indeed، We have adorned the lowest heaven with the stars for decoration
— Transliteration
7
وَحِفْظًۭا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَٰنٍۢ مَّارِدٍۢ
and for protection from every rebellious devil
— Transliteration
8
لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍۢ
They cannot listen to the highest assembly of angels for they are pelted from every side،
— Transliteration
9
دُحُورًۭا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ وَاصِبٌ
fiercely driven away And they will suffer an everlasting torment
— Transliteration
10
إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌۭ ثَاقِبٌۭ
But whoever manages to stealthily eavesdrop is instantly pursued by a piercing flare
— Transliteration
11
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُم مِّن طِينٍۢ لَّازِبٍۭ
So ask them O Prophet، which is harder to create: them or other marvels of Our creation?
— Transliteration
12
بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ
In fact، you are astonished by their denial، while they ridicule you
— Transliteration
13
وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ
When they are reminded، they are never mindful
— Transliteration
14
وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةًۭ يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ
And whenever they see a sign، they make fun of it،
— Transliteration
15
وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ
saying، "This is nothing but pure magic
— Transliteration
16
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
When we are dead and reduced to dust and bones، will we really be resurrected?
— Transliteration
17
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
And our forefathers as well?"
— Transliteration
18
قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ
Say، "Yes And you will be fully humbled"
— Transliteration
19
فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌۭ وَٰحِدَةٌۭ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
It will only take one Blast، then at once they will see it all
— Transliteration
20
وَقَالُوا۟ يَٰوَيْلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ
They will cry، "Oh، woe to us This is the Day of Judgment"
— Transliteration
21
هَٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
They will be told، "This is the Day of Final Decision which you used to deny"
— Transliteration
22
۞ ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ
Allah will say to the angels، "Gather all the wrongdoers along with their peers، and whatever they used to worship
— Transliteration
23
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
instead of Allah، then lead them all to the path of Hell
— Transliteration
24
وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ
And detain them، for they must be questioned"
— Transliteration
25
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ
Then they will be asked، "What is the matter with you that you can no longer help each other?"
— Transliteration
26
بَلْ هُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ
In fact، on that Day they will be fully submissive
— Transliteration
27
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
They will turn on each other، throwing blame
— Transliteration
28
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
The misled will say، "It was you who deluded us away from what is right"
— Transliteration
29
قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ
The misleaders will reply، "No You disbelieved on your own
— Transliteration
30
وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَٰنٍۭ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًۭا طَٰغِينَ
We had no authority over you In fact، you yourselves were a transgressing people
— Transliteration
31
فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ
The decree of our Lord has come to pass against us all: we will certainly taste the punishment
— Transliteration
32
فَأَغْوَيْنَٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَٰوِينَ
We caused you to deviate، for we ourselves were deviant"
— Transliteration
33
فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ
Surely on that Day they will all share in the punishment
— Transliteration
34
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
That is certainly how We deal with the wicked
— Transliteration
35
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
For whenever it was said to them in the world، "There is no god worthy of worship except Allah،" they acted arrogantly
— Transliteration
36
وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍۢ مَّجْنُونٍۭ
and argued، "Should we really abandon our gods for a mad poet?"
— Transliteration
37
بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
In fact، he came with the truth، confirming earlier messengers
— Transliteration
38
إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ
You will certainly taste the painful torment،
— Transliteration
39
وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
and will only be rewarded for what you used to do
— Transliteration
40
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
But not the chosen servants of Allah
— Transliteration
41
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ
They will have a known provision:
— Transliteration
42
فَوَٰكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ
fruits of every type And they will be honoured
— Transliteration
43
فِى جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
in the Gardens of Bliss،
— Transliteration
44
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍۢ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ
facing each other on thrones
— Transliteration
45
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍۢ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ
A drink of pure wine will be passed around to them from a flowing stream:
— Transliteration
46
بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍۢ لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ
crystal-white، delicious to drink
— Transliteration
47
لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌۭ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ
It will neither harm them، nor will they be intoxicated by it
— Transliteration
48
وَعِندَهُمْ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌۭ
And with them will be maidens of modest gaze and gorgeous eyes،
— Transliteration
49
كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌۭ مَّكْنُونٌۭ
as if they were pristine pearls
— Transliteration
50
فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
Then they will turn to one another inquisitively
— Transliteration
51
قَالَ قَآئِلٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌۭ
One of them will say، "I once had a companion in the world
— Transliteration
52
يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ
who used to ask me، \'Do you actually believe in resurrection?
— Transliteration
53
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ
When we are dead and reduced to dust and bones، will we really be brought to judgment?\'"
— Transliteration
54
قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ
He will then ask، "Would you care to see his fate?"
— Transliteration
55
فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Then he and the others will look and spot him in the midst of the Hellfire
— Transliteration
56
قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ
He will then say، "By Allah You nearly ruined me
— Transliteration
57
وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ
Had it not been for the grace of my Lord، I too would have certainly been among those brought to Hell"
— Transliteration
58
أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ
Then he will ask his fellow believers، "Can you imagine that we will never die،
— Transliteration
59
إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
except our first death، nor be punished like the others?"
— Transliteration
60
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
This is truly the ultimate triumph
— Transliteration
61
لِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ ٱلْعَٰمِلُونَ
For such honour all should strive
— Transliteration
62
أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌۭ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ
Is this bliss a better accommodation or the tree of Zaqqûm?
— Transliteration
63
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَٰهَا فِتْنَةًۭ لِّلظَّٰلِمِينَ
We have surely made it a test for the wrongdoers
— Transliteration
64
إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌۭ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Indeed، it is a tree that grows in the depths of Hell،
— Transliteration
65
طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ
bearing fruit like devils\' heads
— Transliteration
66
فَإِنَّهُمْ لَءَاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ
The evildoers will certainly be left to eat from it، filling up their bellies with it
— Transliteration
67
ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًۭا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍۢ
Then on top of that they will be given a blend of boiling drink
— Transliteration
68
ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Then they will ultimately return to their place in Hell
— Transliteration
69
إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ
Indeed، they found their forefathers astray،
— Transliteration
70
فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ
so they rushed in their footsteps
— Transliteration
71
وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
And surely most of the earlier generations had strayed before them،
— Transliteration
72
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ
although We had certainly sent warners among them
— Transliteration
73
فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ
See then what was the end of those who had been warned
— Transliteration
74
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
But not the chosen servants of Allah
— Transliteration
75
وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌۭ فَلَنِعْمَ ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ
Indeed، Noah cried out to Us، and how excellent are We in responding
— Transliteration
76
وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
We delivered him and his family from the great distress،
— Transliteration
77
وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ
and made his descendants the sole survivors
— Transliteration
78
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ
And We blessed him with honourable mention among later generations:
— Transliteration
79
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍۢ فِى ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
"Peace be upon Noah among all peoples"
— Transliteration
80
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
Indeed، this is how We reward the good-doers
— Transliteration
81
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
For he was truly one of Our faithful servants
— Transliteration
82
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ
Then We drowned the others
— Transliteration
83
۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ
And indeed، one of those who followed his way was Abraham
— Transliteration
84
إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍۢ سَلِيمٍ
Remember when he came to his Lord with a pure heart،
— Transliteration
85
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ
and said to his father and his people، "What are you worshipping?
— Transliteration
86
أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةًۭ دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ
Is it false gods that you desire instead of Allah?
— Transliteration
87
فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
What then do you expect from the Lord of all worlds?"
— Transliteration
88
فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةًۭ فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ
He later looked up to the stars in contemplation،
— Transliteration
89
فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌۭ
then said، "I am really sick"
— Transliteration
90
فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ
So they turned their backs on him and went away
— Transliteration
91
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ
Then he stealthily advanced towards their gods، and said mockingly، "Will you not eat your offerings?
— Transliteration
92
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ
What is wrong with you that you cannot speak?"
— Transliteration
93
فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِٱلْيَمِينِ
Then he swiftly turned on them، striking them with his right hand
— Transliteration
94
فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ
Later، his people came rushing towards him furiously
— Transliteration
95
قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ
He argued، "How can you worship what you carve with your own hands،
— Transliteration
96
وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
when it is Allah Who created you and whatever you do?"
— Transliteration
97
قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَٰنًۭا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ
They said to one another، "Build him a furnace and cast him into the blazing fire"
— Transliteration
98
فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًۭا فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ
And so they sought to harm him، but We made them inferior
— Transliteration
99
وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ
He later said، "I am leaving in obedience to my Lord He will guide me
— Transliteration
100
رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
My Lord Bless me with righteous offspring"
— Transliteration
101
فَبَشَّرْنَٰهُ بِغُلَٰمٍ حَلِيمٍۢ
So We gave him good news of a forbearing son
— Transliteration
102
فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعْىَ قَالَ يَٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
Then when the boy reached the age to work with him، Abraham said، "O my dear son I have seen in a dream that I must sacrifice you So tell me what you think" He replied، "O my dear father Do as you are commanded Allah willing، you will find me steadfast"
— Transliteration
103
فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ
Then when they submitted to Allah\'s Will، and Abraham laid him on the side of his forehead for sacrifice،
— Transliteration
104
وَنَٰدَيْنَٰهُ أَن يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ
We called out to him، "O Abraham
— Transliteration
105
قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ ٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
You have already fulfilled the vision" Indeed، this is how We reward the good-doers
— Transliteration
106
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْبَلَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْمُبِينُ
That was truly a revealing test
— Transliteration
107
وَفَدَيْنَٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍۢ
And We ransomed his son with a great sacrifice،
— Transliteration
108
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ
and blessed Abraham with honourable mention among later generations:
— Transliteration
109
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
"Peace be upon Abraham"
— Transliteration
110
كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
This is how We reward the good-doers
— Transliteration
111
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
He was truly one of Our faithful servants
— Transliteration
112
وَبَشَّرْنَٰهُ بِإِسْحَٰقَ نَبِيًّۭا مِّنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
We later gave him good news of Isaaca prophet، and one of the righteous
— Transliteration
113
وَبَٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَٰقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌۭ وَظَالِمٌۭ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌۭ
We blessed him and Isaac as well Some of their descendants did good، while others clearly wronged themselves
— Transliteration
114
وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ
And We certainly showed favour to Moses and Aaron،
— Transliteration
115
وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
and delivered them and their people from the great distress
— Transliteration
116
وَنَصَرْنَٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ
We helped them so it was they who prevailed
— Transliteration
117
وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُمَا ٱلْكِتَٰبَ ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَ
We gave them the clear Scripture،
— Transliteration
118
وَهَدَيْنَٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ
and guided them to the Straight Path
— Transliteration
119
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ
And We blessed them with honourable mention among later generations:
— Transliteration
120
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ
"Peace be upon Moses and Aaron"
— Transliteration
121
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
Indeed، this is how We reward the good-doers
— Transliteration
122
إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
They were truly two of Our faithful servants
— Transliteration
123
وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
And Elias was indeed one of the messengers
— Transliteration
124
إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Remember when he said to his people، "Will you not fear Allah?
— Transliteration
125
أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًۭا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَٰلِقِينَ
Do you call upon the idol of Ba\'l and abandon the Best of Creators
— Transliteration
126
ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
Allah، your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?"
— Transliteration
127
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ
But they rejected him، so they will certainly be brought for punishment
— Transliteration
128
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
But not the chosen servants of Allah
— Transliteration
129
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ
We blessed him with honourable mention among later generations:
— Transliteration
130
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلْ يَاسِينَ
"Peace be upon Elias"
— Transliteration
131
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
Indeed، this is how We reward the good-doers
— Transliteration
132
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
He was truly one of Our faithful servants
— Transliteration
133
وَإِنَّ لُوطًۭا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
And Lot was indeed one of the messengers
— Transliteration
134
إِذْ نَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ
Remember when We delivered him and all of his family،
— Transliteration
135
إِلَّا عَجُوزًۭا فِى ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ
except an old woman، who was one of the doomed
— Transliteration
136
ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ
Then We utterly destroyed the rest
— Transliteration
137
وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ
You Meccans certainly pass by their ruins day
— Transliteration
138
وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
and night Will you not then understand?
— Transliteration
139
وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
And Jonah was indeed one of the messengers
— Transliteration
140
إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ
Remember when he fled to the overloaded ship
— Transliteration
141
فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَ
Then to save it from sinking، he drew straws with other passengers He lost and was thrown overboard
— Transliteration
142
فَٱلْتَقَمَهُ ٱلْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌۭ
Then the whale engulfed him while he was blameworthy
— Transliteration
143
فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ
Had he not constantly glorified Allah،
— Transliteration
144
لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
he would have certainly remained in its belly until the Day of Resurrection
— Transliteration
145
۞ فَنَبَذْنَٰهُ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌۭ
But We cast him onto the open shore، totally worn out،
— Transliteration
146
وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةًۭ مِّن يَقْطِينٍۢ
and caused a squash plant to grow over him
— Transliteration
147
وَأَرْسَلْنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ
We later sent him back to his city of at least one hundred thousand people،
— Transliteration
148
فَـَٔامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍۢ
who then believed in him، so We allowed them enjoyment for a while
— Transliteration
149
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ
Ask them O Prophet if your Lord has daughters، while the pagans prefer to have sons
— Transliteration
150
أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَٰثًۭا وَهُمْ شَٰهِدُونَ
Or ask them if We created the angels as females right before their eyes
— Transliteration
151
أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ
Indeed، it is one of their outrageous fabrications to say،
— Transliteration
152
وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ
"Allah has children" They are simply liars
— Transliteration
153
أَصْطَفَى ٱلْبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلْبَنِينَ
Has He chosen daughters over sons?
— Transliteration
154
مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
What is the matter with you? How do you judge?
— Transliteration
155
أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
Will you not then be mindful?
— Transliteration
156
أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَٰنٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ
Or do you have any compelling proof?
— Transliteration
157
فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ
Then bring us your scripture، if what you say is true
— Transliteration
158
وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًۭا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ
They have also established a marital relationship between Him and the jinn Yet the jinn themselves know well that such people will certainly be brought for punishment
— Transliteration
159
سُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
Glorified is Allah far above what they claim
— Transliteration
160
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
But not the chosen servants of Allah
— Transliteration
161
فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ
Surely you pagans and whatever idols you worship
— Transliteration
162
مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَٰتِنِينَ
can never lure anyone away from Him
— Transliteration
163
إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
except those destined to burn in Hell
— Transliteration
164
وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ
The angels respond، "There is not one of us without an assigned station of worship
— Transliteration
165
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ
We are indeed the ones lined up in ranks for Allah
— Transliteration
166
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ
And we are indeed the ones constantly glorifying His praise"
— Transliteration
167
وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ
They certainly used to say،
— Transliteration
168
لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
"If only we had a Reminder like those of earlier peoples،
— Transliteration
169
لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
we would have truly been Allah\'s devoted servants"
— Transliteration
170
فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
But now they reject it، so they will soon know
— Transliteration
171
وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
Our Word has already gone forth to Our servants، the messengers،
— Transliteration
172
إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ ٱلْمَنصُورُونَ
that they would surely be helped،
— Transliteration
173
وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ
and that Our forces will certainly prevail
— Transliteration
174
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍۢ
So turn away from the deniers for a while O Prophet
— Transliteration
175
وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ
You will see what will happen to them، and they too will see
— Transliteration
176
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
Do they really wish to hasten Our punishment?
— Transliteration
177
فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ
Yet when it descends upon them: how evil will that morning be for those who had been warned
— Transliteration
178
وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍۢ
And turn away from them for a while
— Transliteration
179
وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ
You will see، and they too will see
— Transliteration
180
سُبْحَٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
Glorified is your Lordthe Lord of Honour and Powerabove what they claim
— Transliteration
181
وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
Peace be upon the messengers
— Transliteration
182
وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
And praise be to AllahLord of all worlds
— Transliteration
