Surah 44 - The Smoke (Ad-Dukhan)

حمٓ
ha-Mĩm
— Transliteration
2
وَٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
By the clear Book
— Transliteration
3
إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ فِى لَيْلَةٍۢ مُّبَٰرَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ
Indeed، We sent it down on a blessed night، for We always warn against evil
— Transliteration
4
فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ
On that night every matter of wisdom is ordained
— Transliteration
5
أَمْرًۭا مِّنْ عِندِنَآ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ
by a command from Us، for We have always sent messengers
— Transliteration
6
رَحْمَةًۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
as a mercy from your Lord He alone is truly the All-Hearing، All-Knowing
— Transliteration
7
رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
the Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything in between، if only you had sure faith
— Transliteration
8
لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
There is no god worthy of worship except Him He alone gives life and causes death He is your Lord، and the Lord of your forefathers
— Transliteration
9
بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّۢ يَلْعَبُونَ
In fact، they are in doubt، amusing themselves
— Transliteration
10
فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ
Wait then O Prophet for the day when the sky will be veiled in haze، clearly visible،
— Transliteration
11
يَغْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ ۖ هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ
overwhelming the people They will cry، "This is a painful torment
— Transliteration
12
رَّبَّنَا ٱكْشِفْ عَنَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ
Our Lord Remove this torment from us، and we will certainly believe"
— Transliteration
13
أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ
How can they be reminded when a messenger has already come to them، making things clear،
— Transliteration
14
ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا۟ مُعَلَّمٌۭ مَّجْنُونٌ
then they turned away from him، saying، "A madman، taught by others"?
— Transliteration
15
إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَآئِدُونَ
Indeed، We will remove that torment for a while، and you Meccans will return to disbelief
— Transliteration
16
يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ ٱلْبَطْشَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ
Then on the Day We will deal you the fiercest blow، We will surely inflict punishment
— Transliteration
17
۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌۭ كَرِيمٌ
Indeed، before them We tested Pharaoh\'s people: a noble messenger came to them،
— Transliteration
18
أَنْ أَدُّوٓا۟ إِلَىَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌۭ
proclaiming، "Hand over the servants of Allah to me I am truly a trustworthy messenger to you
— Transliteration
19
وَأَن لَّا تَعْلُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم بِسُلْطَٰنٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ
And do not be arrogant with Allah I have certainly come to you with a compelling proof
— Transliteration
20
وَإِنِّى عُذْتُ بِرَبِّى وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ
And indeed، I seek refuge with my Lord and your Lord so you do not stone me to death
— Transliteration
21
وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ لِى فَٱعْتَزِلُونِ
But if you do not believe me، then let me be"
— Transliteration
22
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوْمٌۭ مُّجْرِمُونَ
Ultimately، he cried out to his Lord، "These are a wicked people"
— Transliteration
23
فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِى لَيْلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
Allah responded، "Leave with My servants at night، for you will surely be pursued
— Transliteration
24
وَٱتْرُكِ ٱلْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌۭ مُّغْرَقُونَ
And leave the sea parted، for they are certainly an army bound to drown"
— Transliteration
25
كَمْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِن جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَعُيُونٍۢ
Imagine how many gardens and springs the tyrants left behind،
— Transliteration
26
وَزُرُوعٍۢ وَمَقَامٍۢ كَرِيمٍۢ
as well as various crops and splendid residences،
— Transliteration
27
وَنَعْمَةٍۢ كَانُوا۟ فِيهَا فَٰكِهِينَ
and luxuries which they fully enjoyed
— Transliteration
28
كَذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَأَوْرَثْنَٰهَا قَوْمًا ءَاخَرِينَ
So it was And We awarded it all to another people
— Transliteration
29
فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنظَرِينَ
Neither heaven nor earth wept over them، nor was their fate delayed
— Transliteration
30
وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْمُهِينِ
And We certainly delivered the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment
— Transliteration
31
مِن فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِيًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
of Pharaoh He was truly a tyrant، a transgressor
— Transliteration
32
وَلَقَدِ ٱخْتَرْنَٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
And indeed، We chose the Israelites knowingly above the others
— Transliteration
33
وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلْءَايَٰتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَٰٓؤٌۭا۟ مُّبِينٌ
And We showed them signs in which there was a clear test
— Transliteration
34
إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَيَقُولُونَ
Indeed، these Meccans say،
— Transliteration
35
إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ
"There is nothing beyond our first death، and we will never be resurrected
— Transliteration
36
فَأْتُوا۟ بِـَٔابَآئِنَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ
Bring back our forefathers، if what you say is true"
— Transliteration
37
أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍۢ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ أَهْلَكْنَٰهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ مُجْرِمِينَ
Are they superior to the people of Tubba\' and those before them? We destroyed them all، for they were truly wicked
— Transliteration
38
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَٰعِبِينَ
We did not create the heavens and the earth and everything in between for sport
— Transliteration
39
مَا خَلَقْنَٰهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
We only created them for a purpose، but most of these pagans do not know
— Transliteration
40
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ مِيقَٰتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Surely the Day of Final Decision is the time appointed for all
— Transliteration
41
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى مَوْلًى عَن مَّوْلًۭى شَيْـًۭٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
the Day no kith or kin will be of benefit to another whatsoever، nor will they be helped،
— Transliteration
42
إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
except those shown mercy by Allah He is truly the Almighty، Most Merciful
— Transliteration
43
إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ ٱلزَّقُّومِ
Surely the fruit of the tree of Zaqqûm
— Transliteration
44
طَعَامُ ٱلْأَثِيمِ
will be the food of the evildoer
— Transliteration
45
كَٱلْمُهْلِ يَغْلِى فِى ٱلْبُطُونِ
Like molten metal، it will boil in the bellies
— Transliteration
46
كَغَلْىِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
like the boiling of hot water
— Transliteration
47
خُذُوهُ فَٱعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
It will be said، "Seize them and drag them into the depths of the Hellfire
— Transliteration
48
ثُمَّ صُبُّوا۟ فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِۦ مِنْ عَذَابِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
Then pour over their heads the torment of boiling water"
— Transliteration
49
ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْكَرِيمُ
The wicked will be told، "Taste this You mighty، noble one
— Transliteration
50
إِنَّ هَٰذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَمْتَرُونَ
This is truly what you all used to doubt"
— Transliteration
51
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍۢ
Indeed، the righteous will be in a secure place،
— Transliteration
52
فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَعُيُونٍۢ
amid Gardens and springs،
— Transliteration
53
يَلْبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٍۢ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍۢ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ
dressed in fine silk and rich brocade، facing one another
— Transliteration
54
كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍۢ
So it will be And We will pair them to maidens with gorgeous eyes
— Transliteration
55
يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَٰكِهَةٍ ءَامِنِينَ
There they will call for every fruit in serenity
— Transliteration
56
لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا ٱلْمَوْتَ إِلَّا ٱلْمَوْتَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
There they will never taste death، beyond the first death And He will protect them from the punishment of the Hellfire
— Transliteration
57
فَضْلًۭا مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
as an act of grace from your Lord That is truly the ultimate triumph
— Transliteration
58
فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
Indeed، We have made this Quran easy in your own language O Prophet so perhaps they will be mindful
— Transliteration
59
فَٱرْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُم مُّرْتَقِبُونَ
Wait then They too are certainly waiting
— Transliteration
