Surah 52 - The Mount (At-Tur)

1

وَٱلطُّورِ

By Mount Ṭûr

— Transliteration

2

وَكِتَٰبٍۢ مَّسْطُورٍۢ

And by the Book written

— Transliteration

3

فِى رَقٍّۢ مَّنشُورٍۢ

on open pages for all to read

— Transliteration

4

وَٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْمَعْمُورِ

And by the Sacred House frequently visited

— Transliteration

5

وَٱلسَّقْفِ ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ

And by the canopy raised high

— Transliteration

6

وَٱلْبَحْرِ ٱلْمَسْجُورِ

And by the seas set on fire

— Transliteration

7

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٌۭ

Indeed، the punishment of your Lord will come to pass

— Transliteration

8

مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٍۢ

none will avert it

— Transliteration

9

يَوْمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوْرًۭا

on the Day the heavens will be shaken violently،

— Transliteration

10

وَتَسِيرُ ٱلْجِبَالُ سَيْرًۭا

and the mountains will be blown away entirely

— Transliteration

11

فَوَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Then woe on that Day to the deniers

— Transliteration

12

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى خَوْضٍۢ يَلْعَبُونَ

those who amuse themselves with falsehood

— Transliteration

13

يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا

It is the Day they will be fiercely shoved into the Fire of Hell

— Transliteration

14

هَٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ

They will be told، "This is the Fire which you used to deny

— Transliteration

15

أَفَسِحْرٌ هَٰذَآ أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ

Is this magic، or do you not see?

— Transliteration

16

ٱصْلَوْهَا فَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟ أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Burn in it It is the same whether you endure it patiently or not You are only rewarded for what you used to do"

— Transliteration

17

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَنَعِيمٍۢ

Indeed، the righteous will be in Gardens and bliss،

— Transliteration

18

فَٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ

enjoying whatever their Lord will have granted them And their Lord will have protected them from the torment of the Hellfire

— Transliteration

19

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

They will be told، "Eat and drink happily for what you used to do"

— Transliteration

20

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍۢ مَّصْفُوفَةٍۢ ۖ وَزَوَّجْنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍۢ

They will be reclining on thrones، neatly lined up facing each other And We will pair them to maidens with gorgeous eyes

— Transliteration

21

وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَٰنٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَآ أَلَتْنَٰهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍۢ ۚ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌۭ

As for those who believe and whose descendants follow them in faith، We will elevate their descendants to their rank، never discounting anything of the reward of their deeds Every person will reap only what they sowed

— Transliteration

22

وَأَمْدَدْنَٰهُم بِفَٰكِهَةٍۢ وَلَحْمٍۢ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ

And We will continually provide them with whatever fruit or meat they desire

— Transliteration

23

يَتَنَٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًۭا لَّا لَغْوٌۭ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌۭ

They will pass around to each other a drink of pure wine، which leads to no idle talk or sinfulness

— Transliteration

24

۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌۭ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌۭ مَّكْنُونٌۭ

And they will be waited on by their youthful servants like spotless pearls

— Transliteration

25

وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

They will turn to one another inquisitively

— Transliteration

26

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِىٓ أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ

They will say، "Before this reward we used to be in awe of Allah in the midst of our people

— Transliteration

27

فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ

So Allah has graced us and protected us from the torment of Hell\'s scorching heat

— Transliteration

28

إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Indeed، we used to call upon Him alone before He is truly the Most Kind، Most Merciful"

— Transliteration

29

فَذَكِّرْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍۢ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ

So continue to remind all، O Prophet For you، by the grace of your Lord، are not a fortune-teller or a madman

— Transliteration

30

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌۭ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيْبَ ٱلْمَنُونِ

Or do they say، "He is a poet، for whom we eagerly await an ill-fate"?

— Transliteration

31

قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا۟ فَإِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ

Say، "Keep waiting I too am waiting with you"

— Transliteration

32

أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَٰمُهُم بِهَٰذَآ ۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌۭ طَاغُونَ

Or do their intelligent minds prompt them to this paradox? Or are they just a transgressing people?

— Transliteration

33

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥ ۚ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ

Or do they say، "He made this Quran up"? In fact، they have no faith

— Transliteration

34

فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِحَدِيثٍۢ مِّثْلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَٰدِقِينَ

Let them then produce something like it، if what they say is true

— Transliteration

35

أَمْ خُلِقُوا۟ مِنْ غَيْرِ شَىْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰلِقُونَ

Or were they created by nothing، or are they their own creators?

— Transliteration

36

أَمْ خَلَقُوا۟ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ ۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ

Or did they create the heavens and the earth? In fact، they have no firm belief in Allah

— Transliteration

37

أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْمُصَۣيْطِرُونَ

Or do they possess the treasuries of your Lord، or are they in control of everything?

— Transliteration

38

أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌۭ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ ۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَٰنٍۢ مُّبِينٍ

Or do they have a stairway، by which they eavesdrop on the heavens? Then let those who do so bring a compelling proof

— Transliteration

39

أَمْ لَهُ ٱلْبَنَٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ

Or does He have daughters as you claim، while you prefer to have sons?

— Transliteration

40

أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًۭا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍۢ مُّثْقَلُونَ

Or are you O Prophet asking them for a reward for the message so that they are overburdened by debt?

— Transliteration

41

أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ

Or do they have access to the Record in the unseen، so they copy it for all to see?

— Transliteration

42

أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًۭا ۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْمَكِيدُونَ

Or do they intend to scheme against the Prophet? Then it is the disbelievers who will fall victim to their schemes

— Transliteration

43

أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ ۚ سُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

Or do they have a god other than Allah? Glorified is Allah far above what they associate with Him

— Transliteration

44

وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ كِسْفًۭا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطًۭا يَقُولُوا۟ سَحَابٌۭ مَّرْكُومٌۭ

If they were to see a deadly piece of the sky fall down upon them، still they would say، "This is just a pile of clouds"

— Transliteration

45

فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ

So leave them until they face their Day in which they will be struck dead

— Transliteration

46

يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْـًۭٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ

the Day their scheming will be of no benefit to them whatsoever، nor will they be helped

— Transliteration

47

وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ عَذَابًۭا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

Also، the wrongdoers will certainly have another torment before that Day، but most of them do not know

— Transliteration

48

وَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ

So be patient with your Lord\'s decree، for you are truly under Our watchful Eyes And glorify the praises of your Lord when you rise

— Transliteration

49

وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ

And glorify Him during part of the night and at the fading of the stars

— Transliteration
