Surah 20 - Ta-Ha (Taha)

Ṭa-Ha
— Transliteration
2
مَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِتَشْقَىٰٓ
We have not revealed the Quran to you O Prophet to cause you distress،
— Transliteration
3
إِلَّا تَذْكِرَةًۭ لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰ
but as a reminder to those in awe of Allah
— Transliteration
4
تَنزِيلًۭا مِّمَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ ٱلْعُلَى
It is a revelation from the One Who created the earth and the high heavens
— Transliteration
5
ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱسْتَوَىٰ
the Most Compassionate، Who is established on the Throne
— Transliteration
6
لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَمَا تَحْتَ ٱلثَّرَىٰ
To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth and whatever is in between and whatever is underground
— Transliteration
7
وَإِن تَجْهَرْ بِٱلْقَوْلِ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلسِّرَّ وَأَخْفَى
Whether you speak openly or not، He certainly knows what is secret and what is even more hidden
— Transliteration
8
ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ لَهُ ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ
Allahthere is no god worthy of worship except Him He has the Most Beautiful Names
— Transliteration
9
وَهَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ
Has the story of Moses reached you O Prophet?
— Transliteration
10
إِذْ رَءَا نَارًۭا فَقَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ ٱمْكُثُوٓا۟ إِنِّىٓ ءَانَسْتُ نَارًۭا لَّعَلِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِقَبَسٍ أَوْ أَجِدُ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ هُدًۭى
When he saw a fire، he said to his family، "Wait here، for I have spotted a fire Perhaps I can bring you a torch from it، or find some guidance at the fire"
— Transliteration
11
فَلَمَّآ أَتَىٰهَا نُودِىَ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ
But when he approached it، he was called، "O Moses
— Transliteration
12
إِنِّىٓ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكَ فَٱخْلَعْ نَعْلَيْكَ ۖ إِنَّكَ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًۭى
It is truly I I am your Lord So take off your sandals، for you are in the sacred valley of Ṭuwa
— Transliteration
13
وَأَنَا ٱخْتَرْتُكَ فَٱسْتَمِعْ لِمَا يُوحَىٰٓ
I have chosen you، so listen to what is revealed:
— Transliteration
14
إِنَّنِىٓ أَنَا ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱعْبُدْنِى وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ لِذِكْرِىٓ
\'It is truly I I am Allah There is no god worthy of worship except Me So worship Me alone، and establish prayer for My remembrance
— Transliteration
15
إِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ ءَاتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا تَسْعَىٰ
The Hour is sure to come My Will is to keep it hidden، so that every soul may be rewarded according to their efforts
— Transliteration
16
فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكَ عَنْهَا مَن لَّا يُؤْمِنُ بِهَا وَٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُ فَتَرْدَىٰ
So do not let those who disbelieve in it and follow their desires distract you from it، or you will be doomed\'"
— Transliteration
17
وَمَا تِلْكَ بِيَمِينِكَ يَٰمُوسَىٰ
Allah added، "And what is that in your right hand، O Moses?"
— Transliteration
18
قَالَ هِىَ عَصَاىَ أَتَوَكَّؤُا۟ عَلَيْهَا وَأَهُشُّ بِهَا عَلَىٰ غَنَمِى وَلِىَ فِيهَا مَـَٔارِبُ أُخْرَىٰ
He replied، "It is my staff I lean on it، and with it I beat down branches for my sheep، and have other uses for it"
— Transliteration
19
قَالَ أَلْقِهَا يَٰمُوسَىٰ
Allah said، "Throw it down، O Moses"
— Transliteration
20
فَأَلْقَىٰهَا فَإِذَا هِىَ حَيَّةٌۭ تَسْعَىٰ
So he did، thenbeholdit became a serpent، slithering
— Transliteration
21
قَالَ خُذْهَا وَلَا تَخَفْ ۖ سَنُعِيدُهَا سِيرَتَهَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ
Allah said، "Take it، and have no fear We will return it to its former state
— Transliteration
22
وَٱضْمُمْ يَدَكَ إِلَىٰ جَنَاحِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَآءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوٓءٍ ءَايَةً أُخْرَىٰ
And put your hand under your armpit، it will come out shining white، unblemished، as another sign،
— Transliteration
23
لِنُرِيَكَ مِنْ ءَايَٰتِنَا ٱلْكُبْرَى
so that We may show you some of Our greatest signs
— Transliteration
24
ٱذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ
Go to Pharaoh، for he has truly transgressed all bounds"
— Transliteration
25
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱشْرَحْ لِى صَدْرِى
Moses prayed، "My Lord Uplift my heart for me،
— Transliteration
26
وَيَسِّرْ لِىٓ أَمْرِى
and make my task easy،
— Transliteration
27
وَٱحْلُلْ عُقْدَةًۭ مِّن لِّسَانِى
and remove the impediment from my tongue
— Transliteration
28
يَفْقَهُوا۟ قَوْلِى
so people may understand my speech،
— Transliteration
29
وَٱجْعَل لِّى وَزِيرًۭا مِّنْ أَهْلِى
and grant me a helper from my family،
— Transliteration
30
هَٰرُونَ أَخِى
Aaron، my brother
— Transliteration
31
ٱشْدُدْ بِهِۦٓ أَزْرِى
Strengthen me through him،
— Transliteration
32
وَأَشْرِكْهُ فِىٓ أَمْرِى
and let him share my task،
— Transliteration
33
كَىْ نُسَبِّحَكَ كَثِيرًۭا
so that we may glorify You much
— Transliteration
34
وَنَذْكُرَكَ كَثِيرًا
and remember You much،
— Transliteration
35
إِنَّكَ كُنتَ بِنَا بَصِيرًۭا
for truly You have always been overseeing us"
— Transliteration
36
قَالَ قَدْ أُوتِيتَ سُؤْلَكَ يَٰمُوسَىٰ
Allah responded، "All that you requested has been granted، O Moses
— Transliteration
37
وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَيْكَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَىٰٓ
And surely We had shown You favour before،
— Transliteration
38
إِذْ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّكَ مَا يُوحَىٰٓ
when We inspired your mother with this:
— Transliteration
39
أَنِ ٱقْذِفِيهِ فِى ٱلتَّابُوتِ فَٱقْذِفِيهِ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ فَلْيُلْقِهِ ٱلْيَمُّ بِٱلسَّاحِلِ يَأْخُذْهُ عَدُوٌّۭ لِّى وَعَدُوٌّۭ لَّهُۥ ۚ وَأَلْقَيْتُ عَلَيْكَ مَحَبَّةًۭ مِّنِّى وَلِتُصْنَعَ عَلَىٰ عَيْنِىٓ
\'Put him into a chest، then put it into the river The river will wash it ashore، and he will be taken by Pharaoh، an enemy of Mine and his\' And I blessed you with lovability from Me O Moses so that you would be brought up under My watchful Eye
— Transliteration
40
إِذْ تَمْشِىٓ أُخْتُكَ فَتَقُولُ هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن يَكْفُلُهُۥ ۖ فَرَجَعْنَٰكَ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّكَ كَىْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ ۚ وَقَتَلْتَ نَفْسًۭا فَنَجَّيْنَٰكَ مِنَ ٱلْغَمِّ وَفَتَنَّٰكَ فُتُونًۭا ۚ فَلَبِثْتَ سِنِينَ فِىٓ أَهْلِ مَدْيَنَ ثُمَّ جِئْتَ عَلَىٰ قَدَرٍۢ يَٰمُوسَىٰ
Remember when your sister came along and proposed، \'Shall I direct you to someone who will nurse him?\' So We reunited you with your mother so that her heart would be put at ease، and she would not grieve Later you killed a man by mistake، but We saved you from sorrow، as well as other tests We put you through Then you stayed for a number of years among the people of Midian Then you came here as pre-destined، O Moses
— Transliteration
41
وَٱصْطَنَعْتُكَ لِنَفْسِى
And I have selected you for My service
— Transliteration
42
ٱذْهَبْ أَنتَ وَأَخُوكَ بِـَٔايَٰتِى وَلَا تَنِيَا فِى ذِكْرِى
Go forth، you and your brother، with My signs and never falter in remembering Me
— Transliteration
43
ٱذْهَبَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ
Go، both of you، to Pharaoh، for he has truly transgressed all bounds
— Transliteration
44
فَقُولَا لَهُۥ قَوْلًۭا لَّيِّنًۭا لَّعَلَّهُۥ يَتَذَكَّرُ أَوْ يَخْشَىٰ
Speak to him gently، so perhaps he may be mindful of Me or fearful of My punishment"
— Transliteration
45
قَالَا رَبَّنَآ إِنَّنَا نَخَافُ أَن يَفْرُطَ عَلَيْنَآ أَوْ أَن يَطْغَىٰ
They both pleaded، "Our Lord We fear that he may be quick to harm us or act tyrannically"
— Transliteration
46
قَالَ لَا تَخَافَآ ۖ إِنَّنِى مَعَكُمَآ أَسْمَعُ وَأَرَىٰ
Allah reassured them، "Have no fear I am with you، hearing and seeing
— Transliteration
47
فَأْتِيَاهُ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولَا رَبِّكَ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَلَا تُعَذِّبْهُمْ ۖ قَدْ جِئْنَٰكَ بِـَٔايَةٍۢ مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۖ وَٱلسَّلَٰمُ عَلَىٰ مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
So go to him and say، \'Indeed we are both messengers from your Lord، so let the Children of Israel go with us، and do not oppress them We have come to you with a sign from your Lord And salvation will be for whoever follows the right guidance
— Transliteration
48
إِنَّا قَدْ أُوحِىَ إِلَيْنَآ أَنَّ ٱلْعَذَابَ عَلَىٰ مَن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
It has indeed been revealed to us that the punishment will be upon whoever denies the truth and turns away\'"
— Transliteration
49
قَالَ فَمَن رَّبُّكُمَا يَٰمُوسَىٰ
Pharaoh asked، "Who then is the Lord of you two، O Moses?"
— Transliteration
50
قَالَ رَبُّنَا ٱلَّذِىٓ أَعْطَىٰ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلْقَهُۥ ثُمَّ هَدَىٰ
He answered، "Our Lord is the One Who has given everything its distinctive form، then guided it"
— Transliteration
51
قَالَ فَمَا بَالُ ٱلْقُرُونِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ
Pharaoh asked، "And what about previous peoples?"
— Transliteration
52
قَالَ عِلْمُهَا عِندَ رَبِّى فِى كِتَٰبٍۢ ۖ لَّا يَضِلُّ رَبِّى وَلَا يَنسَى
He replied، "That knowledge is with my Lord in a Record My Lord neither falters nor forgets anything"
— Transliteration
53
ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ مَهْدًۭا وَسَلَكَ لَكُمْ فِيهَا سُبُلًۭا وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجًۭا مِّن نَّبَاتٍۢ شَتَّىٰ
He is the One Who has laid out the earth for all of you، and set in it pathways for you، and sends down rain from the sky، causing various types of plants to grow،
— Transliteration
54
كُلُوا۟ وَٱرْعَوْا۟ أَنْعَٰمَكُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍۢ لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلنُّهَىٰ
so eat and graze your cattle Surely in this are signs for people of sound judgment
— Transliteration
55
۞ مِنْهَا خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ وَفِيهَا نُعِيدُكُمْ وَمِنْهَا نُخْرِجُكُمْ تَارَةً أُخْرَىٰ
From the earth We created you، and into it We will return you، and from it We will bring you back again
— Transliteration
56
وَلَقَدْ أَرَيْنَٰهُ ءَايَٰتِنَا كُلَّهَا فَكَذَّبَ وَأَبَىٰ
And We certainly showed Pharaoh all of Our signs، but he denied them and refused to believe
— Transliteration
57
قَالَ أَجِئْتَنَا لِتُخْرِجَنَا مِنْ أَرْضِنَا بِسِحْرِكَ يَٰمُوسَىٰ
He said، "Have you come to drive us out of our land with your magic، O Moses?
— Transliteration
58
فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّكَ بِسِحْرٍۢ مِّثْلِهِۦ فَٱجْعَلْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ مَوْعِدًۭا لَّا نُخْلِفُهُۥ نَحْنُ وَلَآ أَنتَ مَكَانًۭا سُوًۭى
We can surely meet you with similar magic So set for us an appointment that neither of us will fail to keep، in a central place"
— Transliteration
59
قَالَ مَوْعِدُكُمْ يَوْمُ ٱلزِّينَةِ وَأَن يُحْشَرَ ٱلنَّاسُ ضُحًۭى
Moses said، "Your appointment is on the Day of the Festival، and let the people be gathered mid-morning"
— Transliteration
60
فَتَوَلَّىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ فَجَمَعَ كَيْدَهُۥ ثُمَّ أَتَىٰ
Pharaoh then withdrew، orchestrated his scheme، then returned
— Transliteration
61
قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰ وَيْلَكُمْ لَا تَفْتَرُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًۭا فَيُسْحِتَكُم بِعَذَابٍۢ ۖ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ
Moses warned the magicians، "Woe to you Do not fabricate a lie against Allah، or He will wipe you out with a torment Whoever fabricates lies is bound to fail"
— Transliteration
62
فَتَنَٰزَعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ
So the magicians disputed the matter among themselves، conversing privately
— Transliteration
63
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَٰذَٰنِ لَسَٰحِرَٰنِ يُرِيدَانِ أَن يُخْرِجَاكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِمَا وَيَذْهَبَا بِطَرِيقَتِكُمُ ٱلْمُثْلَىٰ
They concluded، "These two are only magicians who want to drive you out of your land with their magic، and do away with your most cherished traditions
— Transliteration
64
فَأَجْمِعُوا۟ كَيْدَكُمْ ثُمَّ ٱئْتُوا۟ صَفًّۭا ۚ وَقَدْ أَفْلَحَ ٱلْيَوْمَ مَنِ ٱسْتَعْلَىٰ
So orchestrate your plan، then come forward in perfect ranks And whoever prevails today will certainly be successful"
— Transliteration
65
قَالُوا۟ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِمَّآ أَن تُلْقِىَ وَإِمَّآ أَن نَّكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَلْقَىٰ
They said، "O Moses Either you cast، or let us be the first to cast"
— Transliteration
66
قَالَ بَلْ أَلْقُوا۟ ۖ فَإِذَا حِبَالُهُمْ وَعِصِيُّهُمْ يُخَيَّلُ إِلَيْهِ مِن سِحْرِهِمْ أَنَّهَا تَسْعَىٰ
Moses responded، "No، you go first" And suddenly their ropes and staffs appeared to himby their magicto be slithering
— Transliteration
67
فَأَوْجَسَ فِى نَفْسِهِۦ خِيفَةًۭ مُّوسَىٰ
So Moses concealed fear within himself
— Transliteration
68
قُلْنَا لَا تَخَفْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
We reassured him، "Do not fear It is certainly you who will prevail
— Transliteration
69
وَأَلْقِ مَا فِى يَمِينِكَ تَلْقَفْ مَا صَنَعُوٓا۟ ۖ إِنَّمَا صَنَعُوا۟ كَيْدُ سَٰحِرٍۢ ۖ وَلَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلسَّاحِرُ حَيْثُ أَتَىٰ
Cast what is in your right hand، and it will swallow up what they have made، for what they have made is no more than a magic trick And magicians can never succeed wherever they go"
— Transliteration
70
فَأُلْقِىَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سُجَّدًۭا قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ هَٰرُونَ وَمُوسَىٰ
So the magicians fell down in prostration، declaring، "We believe in the Lord of Aaron and Moses"
— Transliteration
71
قَالَ ءَامَنتُمْ لَهُۥ قَبْلَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحْرَ ۖ فَلَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَٰفٍۢ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ فِى جُذُوعِ ٱلنَّخْلِ وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ أَيُّنَآ أَشَدُّ عَذَابًۭا وَأَبْقَىٰ
Pharaoh threatened، "How dare you believe in him before I give you permission? He must be your master who taught you magic I will certainly cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides، and crucify you on the trunks of palm trees You will really see whose punishment is more severe and more lasting"
— Transliteration
72
قَالُوا۟ لَن نُّؤْثِرَكَ عَلَىٰ مَا جَآءَنَا مِنَ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَٱلَّذِى فَطَرَنَا ۖ فَٱقْضِ مَآ أَنتَ قَاضٍ ۖ إِنَّمَا تَقْضِى هَٰذِهِ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَآ
They responded، "By the One Who created us We will never prefer you over the clear proofs that have come to us So do whatever you want Your authority only covers the fleeting life of this world
— Transliteration
73
إِنَّآ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّنَا لِيَغْفِرَ لَنَا خَطَٰيَٰنَا وَمَآ أَكْرَهْتَنَا عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلسِّحْرِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ خَيْرٌۭ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ
Indeed، we have believed in our Lord so He may forgive our sins and that magic you have forced us to practice And Allah is far superior in reward and more lasting in punishment"
— Transliteration
74
إِنَّهُۥ مَن يَأْتِ رَبَّهُۥ مُجْرِمًۭا فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ جَهَنَّمَ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ
Whoever comes to their Lord as an evildoer will certainly have Hell، where they can neither live nor die
— Transliteration
75
وَمَن يَأْتِهِۦ مُؤْمِنًۭا قَدْ عَمِلَ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ ٱلدَّرَجَٰتُ ٱلْعُلَىٰ
But whoever comes to Him as a believer، having done good، they will have the highest ranks:
— Transliteration
76
جَنَّٰتُ عَدْنٍۢ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَآءُ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ
the Gardens of Eternity، under which rivers flow، where they will stay forever That is the reward of those who purify themselves
— Transliteration
77
وَلَقَدْ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِى فَٱضْرِبْ لَهُمْ طَرِيقًۭا فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ يَبَسًۭا لَّا تَخَٰفُ دَرَكًۭا وَلَا تَخْشَىٰ
And We surely inspired Moses، saying، "Leave with My servants at night and strike a dry passage for them across the sea Have no fear of being overtaken، nor be concerned of drowning"
— Transliteration
78
فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ بِجُنُودِهِۦ فَغَشِيَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْيَمِّ مَا غَشِيَهُمْ
Then Pharaoh pursued them with his soldiersbut how overwhelming were the waters that submerged them
— Transliteration
79
وَأَضَلَّ فِرْعَوْنُ قَوْمَهُۥ وَمَا هَدَىٰ
And so Pharaoh led his people astray، and did not guide them rightly
— Transliteration
80
يَٰبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ قَدْ أَنجَيْنَٰكُم مِّنْ عَدُوِّكُمْ وَوَٰعَدْنَٰكُمْ جَانِبَ ٱلطُّورِ ٱلْأَيْمَنَ وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْمَنَّ وَٱلسَّلْوَىٰ
O Children of Israel We saved you from your enemy، and made an appointment with you
— Transliteration
81
كُلُوا۟ مِن طَيِّبَٰتِ مَا رَزَقْنَٰكُمْ وَلَا تَطْغَوْا۟ فِيهِ فَيَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبِى ۖ وَمَن يَحْلِلْ عَلَيْهِ غَضَبِى فَقَدْ هَوَىٰ
saying، "Eat from the good things We have provided for you، but do not transgress in them، or My wrath will befall you And whoever My wrath befalls is certainly doomed
— Transliteration
82
وَإِنِّى لَغَفَّارٌۭ لِّمَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحًۭا ثُمَّ ٱهْتَدَىٰ
But I am truly Most Forgiving to whoever repents، believes، and does good، then persists on true guidance"
— Transliteration
83
۞ وَمَآ أَعْجَلَكَ عَن قَوْمِكَ يَٰمُوسَىٰ
Allah asked، "Why have you come with such haste ahead of your people، O Moses?"
— Transliteration
84
قَالَ هُمْ أُو۟لَآءِ عَلَىٰٓ أَثَرِى وَعَجِلْتُ إِلَيْكَ رَبِّ لِتَرْضَىٰ
He replied، "They are close on my tracks And I have hastened to You، my Lord، so You will be pleased"
— Transliteration
85
قَالَ فَإِنَّا قَدْ فَتَنَّا قَوْمَكَ مِنۢ بَعْدِكَ وَأَضَلَّهُمُ ٱلسَّامِرِىُّ
Allah responded، "We have indeed tested your people in your absence، and the Samiri has led them astray"
— Transliteration
86
فَرَجَعَ مُوسَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ غَضْبَٰنَ أَسِفًۭا ۚ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ أَلَمْ يَعِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ وَعْدًا حَسَنًا ۚ أَفَطَالَ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْعَهْدُ أَمْ أَرَدتُّمْ أَن يَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ فَأَخْلَفْتُم مَّوْعِدِى
So Moses returned to his people، furious and sorrowful He said، "O my people Had your Lord not made you a good promise?
— Transliteration
87
قَالُوا۟ مَآ أَخْلَفْنَا مَوْعِدَكَ بِمَلْكِنَا وَلَٰكِنَّا حُمِّلْنَآ أَوْزَارًۭا مِّن زِينَةِ ٱلْقَوْمِ فَقَذَفْنَٰهَا فَكَذَٰلِكَ أَلْقَى ٱلسَّامِرِىُّ
They argued، "We did not break our promise to you of our own free will، but we were made to carry the burden of the people\'s golden jewellery، then we threw it into the fire، and so did the Samiri"
— Transliteration
88
فَأَخْرَجَ لَهُمْ عِجْلًۭا جَسَدًۭا لَّهُۥ خُوَارٌۭ فَقَالُوا۟ هَٰذَآ إِلَٰهُكُمْ وَإِلَٰهُ مُوسَىٰ فَنَسِىَ
Then he moulded for them an idol of a calf that made a lowing sound They said، "This is your god and the god of Moses، but Moses forgot where it was"
— Transliteration
89
أَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَلَّا يَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَوْلًۭا وَلَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ ضَرًّۭا وَلَا نَفْعًۭا
Did they not see that it did not respond to them، nor could it protect or benefit them?
— Transliteration
90
وَلَقَدْ قَالَ لَهُمْ هَٰرُونُ مِن قَبْلُ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنَّمَا فُتِنتُم بِهِۦ ۖ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ فَٱتَّبِعُونِى وَأَطِيعُوٓا۟ أَمْرِى
Aaron had already warned them beforehand، "O my people You are only being tested by this، for indeed your one true Lord is the Most Compassionate So follow me and obey my orders"
— Transliteration
91
قَالُوا۟ لَن نَّبْرَحَ عَلَيْهِ عَٰكِفِينَ حَتَّىٰ يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ
They replied، "We will not cease to worship it until Moses returns to us"
— Transliteration
92
قَالَ يَٰهَٰرُونُ مَا مَنَعَكَ إِذْ رَأَيْتَهُمْ ضَلُّوٓا۟
Moses scolded his brother، "O Aaron What prevented you، when you saw them going astray،
— Transliteration
93
أَلَّا تَتَّبِعَنِ ۖ أَفَعَصَيْتَ أَمْرِى
from following after me? How could you disobey my orders?"
— Transliteration
94
قَالَ يَبْنَؤُمَّ لَا تَأْخُذْ بِلِحْيَتِى وَلَا بِرَأْسِىٓ ۖ إِنِّى خَشِيتُ أَن تَقُولَ فَرَّقْتَ بَيْنَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَلَمْ تَرْقُبْ قَوْلِى
Aaron pleaded، "O son of my mother Do not seize me by my beard or the hair of my head I really feared that you would say، \'You have caused division among the Children of Israel، and did not observe my word\'"
— Transliteration
95
قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكَ يَٰسَٰمِرِىُّ
Moses then asked، "What did you think you were doing، O Samiri?"
— Transliteration
96
قَالَ بَصُرْتُ بِمَا لَمْ يَبْصُرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَقَبَضْتُ قَبْضَةًۭ مِّنْ أَثَرِ ٱلرَّسُولِ فَنَبَذْتُهَا وَكَذَٰلِكَ سَوَّلَتْ لِى نَفْسِى
He said، "I saw what they did not see، so I took a handful of dust from the hoof-prints of the horse of the messenger-angel Gabriel then cast it on the moulded calf This is what my lower-self tempted me into"
— Transliteration
97
قَالَ فَٱذْهَبْ فَإِنَّ لَكَ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ أَن تَقُولَ لَا مِسَاسَ ۖ وَإِنَّ لَكَ مَوْعِدًۭا لَّن تُخْلَفَهُۥ ۖ وَٱنظُرْ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰهِكَ ٱلَّذِى ظَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفًۭا ۖ لَّنُحَرِّقَنَّهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَنسِفَنَّهُۥ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ نَسْفًا
Moses said، "Go away then And for the rest of your life you will surely be crying، \'Do not touch me\' that you cannot escape Now look at your god to which you have been devoted: we will burn it up، then scatter it in the sea completely"
— Transliteration
98
إِنَّمَآ إِلَٰهُكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عِلْمًۭا
Then Moses addressed his people، "Your only god is Allah، there is no god worthy of worship except Him He encompasses everything in His knowledge"
— Transliteration
99
كَذَٰلِكَ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنۢبَآءِ مَا قَدْ سَبَقَ ۚ وَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَٰكَ مِن لَّدُنَّا ذِكْرًۭا
This is how We relate to you O Prophet some of the stories of the past And We have certainly granted you a Reminder from Us
— Transliteration
100
مَّنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَحْمِلُ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وِزْرًا
Whoever turns away from it will surely bear the burden of sin on the Day of Judgment،
— Transliteration
101
خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهِ ۖ وَسَآءَ لَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ حِمْلًۭا
suffering its consequences forever What an evil burden they will carry on Judgment Day
— Transliteration
102
يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ ۚ وَنَحْشُرُ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ زُرْقًۭا
Beware of the Day the Trumpet will be blown،
— Transliteration
103
يَتَخَٰفَتُونَ بَيْنَهُمْ إِن لَّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا عَشْرًۭا
They will whisper among themselves، "You stayed no more than ten days on the earth"
— Transliteration
104
نَّحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ إِذْ يَقُولُ أَمْثَلُهُمْ طَرِيقَةً إِن لَّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا يَوْمًۭا
We know best what they will saythe most reasonable of them will say، "You stayed no more than a day"
— Transliteration
105
وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلْجِبَالِ فَقُلْ يَنسِفُهَا رَبِّى نَسْفًۭا
And if they ask you O Prophet about the mountains، then say، "My Lord will wipe them out completely،
— Transliteration
106
فَيَذَرُهَا قَاعًۭا صَفْصَفًۭا
leaving the earth level and bare،
— Transliteration
107
لَّا تَرَىٰ فِيهَا عِوَجًۭا وَلَآ أَمْتًۭا
with neither depressions nor elevations to be seen"
— Transliteration
108
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ يَتَّبِعُونَ ٱلدَّاعِىَ لَا عِوَجَ لَهُۥ ۖ وَخَشَعَتِ ٱلْأَصْوَاتُ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ فَلَا تَسْمَعُ إِلَّا هَمْسًۭا
On that Day all will follow the caller for assembly، and none will dare to deviate All voices will be hushed before the Most Compassionate Only whispers will be heard
— Transliteration
109
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لَّا تَنفَعُ ٱلشَّفَٰعَةُ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ وَرَضِىَ لَهُۥ قَوْلًۭا
On that Day no intercession will be of any benefit، except by those granted permission by the Most Compassionate and whose words are agreeable to Him
— Transliteration
110
يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِهِۦ عِلْمًۭا
He fully knows what is ahead of them and what is behind them،
— Transliteration
111
۞ وَعَنَتِ ٱلْوُجُوهُ لِلْحَىِّ ٱلْقَيُّومِ ۖ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ حَمَلَ ظُلْمًۭا
And all faces will be humbled before the Ever-Living، All-Sustaining And those burdened with wrongdoing will be in loss
— Transliteration
112
وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌۭ فَلَا يَخَافُ ظُلْمًۭا وَلَا هَضْمًۭا
But whoever does good and is a believer will have no fear of being wronged or denied their reward
— Transliteration
113
وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ قُرْءَانًا عَرَبِيًّۭا وَصَرَّفْنَا فِيهِ مِنَ ٱلْوَعِيدِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ أَوْ يُحْدِثُ لَهُمْ ذِكْرًۭا
And so We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran and varied the warnings in it، so perhaps they will shun evil or it may cause them to be mindful
— Transliteration
114
فَتَعَٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۗ وَلَا تَعْجَلْ بِٱلْقُرْءَانِ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يُقْضَىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ وَحْيُهُۥ ۖ وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدْنِى عِلْمًۭا
Exalted is Allah، the True King Do not rush to recite a revelation of the Quran O Prophet before it is properly conveyed to you، and pray، "My Lord Increase me in knowledge"
— Transliteration
115
وَلَقَدْ عَهِدْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ ءَادَمَ مِن قَبْلُ فَنَسِىَ وَلَمْ نَجِدْ لَهُۥ عَزْمًۭا
And indeed، We once made a covenant with Adam، but he forgot، and so We did not find determination in him
— Transliteration
116
وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ ٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِءَادَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ
And remember when We said to the angels، "Prostrate before Adam،" so they all didbut not Iblis، who refused arrogantly
— Transliteration
117
فَقُلْنَا يَٰٓـَٔادَمُ إِنَّ هَٰذَا عَدُوٌّۭ لَّكَ وَلِزَوْجِكَ فَلَا يُخْرِجَنَّكُمَا مِنَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ فَتَشْقَىٰٓ
So We cautioned، "O Adam This is surely an enemy to you and to your wife So do not let him drive you both out of Paradise، for you O Adam would then suffer hardship
— Transliteration
118
إِنَّ لَكَ أَلَّا تَجُوعَ فِيهَا وَلَا تَعْرَىٰ
Here it is guaranteed that you will never go hungry or unclothed،
— Transliteration
119
وَأَنَّكَ لَا تَظْمَؤُا۟ فِيهَا وَلَا تَضْحَىٰ
nor will you ever suffer from thirst or the sun\'s heat"
— Transliteration
120
فَوَسْوَسَ إِلَيْهِ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ قَالَ يَٰٓـَٔادَمُ هَلْ أَدُلُّكَ عَلَىٰ شَجَرَةِ ٱلْخُلْدِ وَمُلْكٍۢ لَّا يَبْلَىٰ
But Satan whispered to him، saying، "O Adam Shall I show you the Tree of Immortality and a kingdom that does not fade away?"
— Transliteration
121
فَأَكَلَا مِنْهَا فَبَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْءَٰتُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَانِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِن وَرَقِ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۚ وَعَصَىٰٓ ءَادَمُ رَبَّهُۥ فَغَوَىٰ
So they both ate from the tree and then their nakedness was exposed to them، prompting them to cover themselves with leaves from Paradise So Adam disobeyed his Lord، and so lost his way
— Transliteration
122
ثُمَّ ٱجْتَبَٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَتَابَ عَلَيْهِ وَهَدَىٰ
Then his Lord chose him for His grace، accepted his repentance، and guided him rightly
— Transliteration
123
قَالَ ٱهْبِطَا مِنْهَا جَمِيعًۢا ۖ بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّۭ ۖ فَإِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُم مِّنِّى هُدًۭى فَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ هُدَاىَ فَلَا يَضِلُّ وَلَا يَشْقَىٰ
Allah said، "Descend، both of you، from here together with Satan as enemies to each other Then when guidance comes to you from Me، whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray in this life nor suffer in the next
— Transliteration
124
وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَن ذِكْرِى فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ مَعِيشَةًۭ ضَنكًۭا وَنَحْشُرُهُۥ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ أَعْمَىٰ
But whoever turns away from My Reminder will certainly have a miserable life، then We will raise them up blind on the Day of Judgment"
— Transliteration
125
قَالَ رَبِّ لِمَ حَشَرْتَنِىٓ أَعْمَىٰ وَقَدْ كُنتُ بَصِيرًۭا
They will cry، "My Lord Why have you raised me up blind، although I used to see?"
— Transliteration
126
قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ أَتَتْكَ ءَايَٰتُنَا فَنَسِيتَهَا ۖ وَكَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمَ تُنسَىٰ
Allah will respond، "It is so، just as Our revelations came to you and you neglected them، so Today you are neglected"
— Transliteration
127
وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى مَنْ أَسْرَفَ وَلَمْ يُؤْمِنۢ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِۦ ۚ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ أَشَدُّ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ
This is how We reward whoever transgresses and does not believe in the revelations of their Lord And the punishment of the Hereafter is far more severe and more lasting
— Transliteration
128
أَفَلَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْقُرُونِ يَمْشُونَ فِى مَسَٰكِنِهِمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍۢ لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلنُّهَىٰ
Is it not yet clear to them how many peoples We destroyed before them، whose ruins they still pass by? Surely in this are signs for people of sound judgment
— Transliteration
129
وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌۭ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَكَانَ لِزَامًۭا وَأَجَلٌۭ مُّسَمًّۭى
Had it not been for a prior decree from your Lord O Prophet and a term already set، their instant doom would have been inevitable
— Transliteration
130
فَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ ٱلشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَا ۖ وَمِنْ ءَانَآئِ ٱلَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْ وَأَطْرَافَ ٱلنَّهَارِ لَعَلَّكَ تَرْضَىٰ
So be patient O Prophet with what they say And glorify the praises of your Lord before sunrise and before sunset، and glorify Him in the hours of the night and at both ends of the day، so that you may be pleased with the reward
— Transliteration
131
وَلَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجًۭا مِّنْهُمْ زَهْرَةَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا لِنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ ۚ وَرِزْقُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌۭ وَأَبْقَىٰ
Do not let your eyes crave what We have allowed some of the disbelievers to enjoy; the fleeting splendour of this worldly life، which We test them with But your Lord\'s provision in the Hereafter is far better and more lasting
— Transliteration
132
وَأْمُرْ أَهْلَكَ بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱصْطَبِرْ عَلَيْهَا ۖ لَا نَسْـَٔلُكَ رِزْقًۭا ۖ نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُكَ ۗ وَٱلْعَٰقِبَةُ لِلتَّقْوَىٰ
Bid your people to pray، and be diligent in observing it We do not ask you to provide It is We Who provide for you And the ultimate outcome is only for the people of righteousness
— Transliteration
133
وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَا يَأْتِينَا بِـَٔايَةٍۢ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦٓ ۚ أَوَلَمْ تَأْتِهِم بَيِّنَةُ مَا فِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ
They demand، "If only he could bring us a sign from his Lord"
— Transliteration
134
وَلَوْ أَنَّآ أَهْلَكْنَٰهُم بِعَذَابٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِهِۦ لَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا لَوْلَآ أَرْسَلْتَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولًۭا فَنَتَّبِعَ ءَايَٰتِكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن نَّذِلَّ وَنَخْزَىٰ
Had We destroyed them with a torment before this Prophet came، they would have surely argued، "Our Lord If only You had sent us a messenger، we would have followed Your revelations before being humiliated and put to shame"
— Transliteration
135
قُلْ كُلٌّۭ مُّتَرَبِّصٌۭ فَتَرَبَّصُوا۟ ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلصِّرَٰطِ ٱلسَّوِىِّ وَمَنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ
Say to them، O Prophet، "Each of us is waiting، so keep waiting You will soon know who is on the Straight Path and is rightly guided"
— Transliteration
