Surah 55 - The Beneficent (Ar-Rahman)

ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ
The Most Compassionate
— Transliteration
2
عَلَّمَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
taught the Quran،
— Transliteration
3
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ
created humanity،
— Transliteration
4
عَلَّمَهُ ٱلْبَيَانَ
and taught them speech
— Transliteration
5
ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍۢ
The sun and the moon travel with precision
— Transliteration
6
وَٱلنَّجْمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ
The stars and the trees bow down in submission
— Transliteration
7
وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلْمِيزَانَ
As for the sky، He raised it high، and set the balance of justice
— Transliteration
8
أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْمِيزَانِ
so that you do not defraud the scales
— Transliteration
9
وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلْوَزْنَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا۟ ٱلْمِيزَانَ
Weigh with justice، and do not give short measure
— Transliteration
10
وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ
He laid out the earth for all beings
— Transliteration
11
فِيهَا فَٰكِهَةٌۭ وَٱلنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ ٱلْأَكْمَامِ
In it are fruit، palm trees with date stalks،
— Transliteration
12
وَٱلْحَبُّ ذُو ٱلْعَصْفِ وَٱلرَّيْحَانُ
and grain with husks، and aromatic plants
— Transliteration
13
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you humans and jinn both deny?
— Transliteration
14
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلْصَٰلٍۢ كَٱلْفَخَّارِ
He created humankind from sounding clay like pottery،
— Transliteration
15
وَخَلَقَ ٱلْجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجٍۢ مِّن نَّارٍۢ
and created jinn from a smokeless flame of fire
— Transliteration
16
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
17
رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَغْرِبَيْنِ
He is Lord of the two easts and the two wests
— Transliteration
18
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
19
مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ
He merges the two bodies of fresh and salt water،
— Transliteration
20
بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌۭ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ
yet between them is a barrier they never cross
— Transliteration
21
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
22
يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا ٱللُّؤْلُؤُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ
Out of both waters come forth pearls and coral
— Transliteration
23
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
24
وَلَهُ ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ كَٱلْأَعْلَٰمِ
To Him belong the ships with raised sails، sailing through the seas like mountains
— Transliteration
25
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
26
كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍۢ
Every being on earth is bound to perish
— Transliteration
27
وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلْجَلَٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ
Only your Lord Himself،
— Transliteration
28
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
29
يَسْـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِى شَأْنٍۢ
All those in the heavens and the earth are dependent on Him Day in and day out He has something to bring about
— Transliteration
30
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
31
سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ
We will soon attend to you for judgment، O two multitudes of jinn and humans
— Transliteration
32
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
33
يَٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنْ أَقْطَارِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَٰنٍۢ
O assembly of jinn and humans If you can penetrate beyond the realms of the heavens and the earth، then do so But you cannot do that without Our authority
— Transliteration
34
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
35
يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌۭ مِّن نَّارٍۢ وَنُحَاسٌۭ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ
Flames of fire and molten copper will be sent against you، and you will not be able to defend one another
— Transliteration
36
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
37
فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةًۭ كَٱلدِّهَانِ
How horrible will it be when the heavens will split apart، becoming rose-red like burnt oil
— Transliteration
38
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
39
فَيَوْمَئِذٍۢ لَّا يُسْـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسٌۭ وَلَا جَآنٌّۭ
On that Day there will be no need for any human or jinn to be asked about their sins
— Transliteration
40
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
41
يُعْرَفُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَٰهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِى وَٱلْأَقْدَامِ
The wicked will be recognized by their appearance، then will be seized by their forelocks and feet
— Transliteration
42
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
43
هَٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِى يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ
They will be told، "This is the Hell which the wicked denied"
— Transliteration
44
يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانٍۢ
They will alternate between its flames and scalding water
— Transliteration
45
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
46
وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ
And whoever is in awe of standing before their Lord will have two Gardens
— Transliteration
47
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
48
ذَوَاتَآ أَفْنَانٍۢ
Both will be with lush branches
— Transliteration
49
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
50
فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ تَجْرِيَانِ
In each Garden will be two flowing springs
— Transliteration
51
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
52
فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَٰكِهَةٍۢ زَوْجَانِ
In each will be two types of every fruit
— Transliteration
53
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
54
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشٍۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍۢ ۚ وَجَنَى ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍۢ
Those believers will recline on furnishings lined with rich brocade And the fruit of both Gardens will hang within reach
— Transliteration
55
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
56
فِيهِنَّ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌۭ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّۭ
In both Gardens will be maidens of modest gaze، who no human or jinn has ever touched before
— Transliteration
57
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
58
كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلْيَاقُوتُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ
Those maidens will be as elegant as rubies and coral
— Transliteration
59
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
60
هَلْ جَزَآءُ ٱلْإِحْسَٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلْإِحْسَٰنُ
Is there any reward for goodness except goodness?
— Transliteration
61
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
62
وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ
And below these two Gardens will be two others
— Transliteration
63
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
64
مُدْهَآمَّتَانِ
Both will be dark green
— Transliteration
65
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
66
فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ
In each will be two gushing springs
— Transliteration
67
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
68
فِيهِمَا فَٰكِهَةٌۭ وَنَخْلٌۭ وَرُمَّانٌۭ
In both will be fruit، palm trees، and pomegranates
— Transliteration
69
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
70
فِيهِنَّ خَيْرَٰتٌ حِسَانٌۭ
In all Gardens will be noble، pleasant mates
— Transliteration
71
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
72
حُورٌۭ مَّقْصُورَٰتٌۭ فِى ٱلْخِيَامِ
They will be maidens with gorgeous eyes، reserved in pavilions
— Transliteration
73
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
74
لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌۭ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّۭ
No human or jinn has ever touched these maidens before
— Transliteration
75
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
76
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍۢ وَعَبْقَرِىٍّ حِسَانٍۢ
All believers will be reclining on green cushions and splendid carpets
— Transliteration
77
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Then which of your Lord\'s favours will you both deny?
— Transliteration
78
تَبَٰرَكَ ٱسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِى ٱلْجَلَٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ
Blessed is the Name of your Lord، full of Majesty and Honour
— Transliteration
